The Woman Within

 The Path of Life
Back to Full Blog

The Path of Life

Standing at the abyss

Of what once was

I find myself at a crossroad of sorts

A fork in the road

Which path shall I take?

Will I go to the left?

Or to the right?

Which road leads me back to myself?

To who I once was?

Which road leads me forward?

To who I am becoming?

Shall I walk both roads?

In order to see the future

Must I look to the past?

So many unanswered questions

As I walk my path of life.

I collect and gather

Fragmented and broken pieces

All along the way

As I walk the winding road

Where is the bottle of glue?

That will bind and strengthen

Melding them together

All the pieces and parts

To make one whole

Is it waterproof to withstand

The tears that flow

Down my cheeks

In the cleansing

Of my spirit and my soul

Only time will tell

But I’m still walking along

The Path of my Life

And waking to what

The future holds.

Hi PolarB, your poem here is interestingly sad. I like this poem. It tells me a lot more about yourself. Standing at the abyss tells me that you look down into your past and I don't really think you want to go back. The thought that you still think of your past only makes you feel you should always remember it. You only need to remember your past in order to learn from it. The road in which you search is clear before you. You have always known, but your doubts keep you from going forward, it hinders you. The fact that you feel that you are in shards, corrects itself through the cleansing of your tears.
And finally, you have healed yourself by telling of waking to your future.

I love it!

The future can be many things to us. Some people are fearful, some want to stay in the past, and some cannot wait for a new day and new experience. I think it depends on the stage of your life too don't you. Thanks again for your wonderful thoughts.

Yes I would agree Summer, and sometimes it even depends on what day it is. Some days I am more focused on the future and all the possibilites it holds for me and other days I can look back on my past and look upon the lessons I have learned where I can draw from my experience.

Thanks for visiting my poetry site. I appreciate the comments!
